Capitol Parade and Rally…Take Back Utah
Dear Outdoor Enthusiast,
“Change only comes to those who seize opportunity…Opportunity only comes but once”
Sportsmen, oilmen, off-roaders, ranchers, farmers, foresters, educators, and all others who count on access to public land!
It’s not very often that any of us have an opportunity to be a key part of a monumental event.
On the morning of August 8, 2009 you will have just such an opportunity when thousands of concerned American’s, just like yourself, will parade vehicles up State Street in Salt Lake City, Utah. The final destination is the steps of Utah’s capitol building. Once there, a massive rally will be held in support of keeping public land open to the public. There will be some high profile speakers, musical performances, and lots of energy.
More important that what you will get from attending, it is what you will bring by just being there that is important.
A massive turn out at this event will show complacent politicians, both in Utah and across the nation how much we all care about the management of public land in Utah; and how united we are in our efforts to keep public land open. We need to unite in large enough numbers to force a national audience to look at this issue and realize that it is an important right of every American to be able to access public lands.
More than ever before, the success of this event lies on your shoulders alone!
You may think your participation in this event doesn’t matter, if so, you’re wrong. A rally with only a few hundred people will show that there are not many Utahans really interested in keeping public land access open. We must unite with thousands… In fact, It has been historically proven time and again that 10,000 participants guarantees national media attention. Look at the TEA parties, Look at the Farmers march on Washington. If you care about these issues you MUST attend. Not only must you attend, you also must spread the word and strongly encourage others to participate with you.
With the winds of change blowing across the west from Washington D.C., this is the only way to make sure they blow in the right direction.
Currently we have few friends of access in the current administration. We need to act in this time, in this place! The success of this event will absolutely impact how responsive politicians will be on this issue in the future. The choice you make to participate or not to participate in this event will determine how successful we will be and therefore how much political action we get on these issues. Choose to participate! Choose to make a difference! Choose to have a little fun in the process! Below you will find event info, and a link to our event website where you can register for the parade and get other details.
Help us help you…TAKE BACK UTAH!
Sincerely,
Michael Swenson
