Capitol Rally Next Week

Next Tuesday February 23 at 1:00 PM a rally will be held in the Utah Capitol building rotunda (2nd floor under the dome). The purpose of the rally is to support key pieces of legislation being proposed by Representatives Mike Noel and Chris Herrod. We know that 1:00 PM on a Tuesday is not the most ideal time for such an event but we ask that you make every effort to be there. These legislators are taking real and aggressive action to improve your ability to access and enjoy public land in Utah. They also are making real efforts to protect the sovereign state of Utah and reduce the control the federal government has on all of us. In most everyone’s situation, the term budget has been a fairly common topic. This topic is a bit out of place on a motorsports website, but we’re here for you, we’re all in this together.

So, when I came across these budget tips published by The Associated Press titled “Make 2010 Different: 6 Budget Mistake to Avoid” I thought I would share them with everyone.

They came up with a short list of 6 tips that can help each of us a come with and execute a budget successfuly.

1. You think “budget” means “no spending.”
2. You don’t track your spending.
3. Your plan isn’t flexible.
4. You haven’t set a series of goals.
5. There’s no fun built in.
6. Your spouse hasn’t bought in.

The BlueRibbon Coalition is saddened today to learn long time partner and friend, Don Klusman, California Association of 4Wheel Drive Clubs, passed away yesterday.

Western Regional Representative for the BlueRibbon Coalition, Don Amador, said, “I’ve worked with Don for 15+ years on many far reaching land use issues, and today is a sad day indeed.”

“I worked closely with Don on many California issues over the years,” echoed Paul Turcke, legal counsel for the BlueRibbon Coalition. “We were lucky to have him.” (more…)

Riding motorcycles helps keep drivers young by invigorating their brains, the scientist behind popular “Brain Training” computer software said Wednesday, citing a new scientific study. “The driver’s brain gets activated by riding motorbikes” in part because it requires heightened alertness, Ryuta Kawashima said after his research team and Yamaha Motors conducted a string of experiments involving middle-aged men. “In a convenient and easy environment, the human mind and body get used to setting the hurdle low,” he warned. “Our final conclusion is that riding motorcycles can lead to smart ageing.”

Great news, the 3rd annual Avalanche Awareness Ride and Auction are scheduled for February 7, 2009. Visit the Avalanche Awareness Website to sign up, donate to the Utah Avalanche Center and learn more about the event. We’ll ride and meet in the morning. Afterwards, we’ll have dinner at the Edge Motorsports. Dinner is provided, but bring your own beer.

Everyone is invited to the Boondockers Alive Premier being held in Salt Lake City, Utah. Kick-off will be 6:30 Thursday night, October 16th, 2008. The premier is being held at The Edge Motorsports in Draper, Utah. The Edge is located at 14301 Minuteman Drive.

Tickets are $10 dollars a person, not too bad we hope. Mainly, the premier is a fundraising event for the Utah Avalanche Center (UAC). The Edge Motorsports and Boondockers have teamed together to rally support of avalanche and backcountry research. Ticket sales will be donated to the UAC in order to advance avalanche research, awareness and preparedness. (more…)
