The Best Scott GORE-TEX® Snowmobile Jacket
It isn’t uncommon to come across a day of riding in 2-3ft of untouched powder in the western states. Snow that can make an individual just disappear. This is when a great jacket stands out above a good jacket. When staying dry is key to making a good day of riding an epic day. For about a decade now the best jacket to buy was a GORE-TEX® Jacket. There was a day when only one or two brands names had such jackets, but now that technology is starting to move down the ranks to other brands. Scott USA is one of the leading companies when it comes to snow clothing and the technology around, helping us staying dry and warm in the winter. Which brings me to the Scott Striker Snowmobile Jacket. I have just fallen in love with this jacket, from the great design, to the cut and feel and even better the performance of a top of the line jacket which I believe is on of Scott’s Best Jackets they make.
For years its been said that GORE-TEX® is the best material out there for snowmobile coats and pants, just ask someone who owns a jacket or pants that are GORE-TEX® and I’m sure they will tell you happy they are with them. However for years we were limited to a very select few companies that even carried any products made of this great material. Recently more and more companies are starting to use this material to increase their product selection. Scott of course is not one to be left behind and did a great job when they came out with their Striker Jacket.
Scott did a fabulous job when designing this jacket. They took into consideration some of the smallest details that really make this jacket stand out. The first thing I noticed was of course the design. The way the colors flow on this jacket really pops out at you making it extremely difficult not to look at. Its simple yet a great attention grabber. The next thing that I really like about this coat is just how it feels when your wearing it. Scott made sure that they put plenty of room in the shoulder area which as we all know is key with a snowmobile jacket. I can’t count how many times I’ve tried on a jacket and it has felt great standing there, but once I put a pack on and then reach for the handle bars it feels like I’m wearing my business suit and headed to the office. You don’t get that feeling with this jacket. For me there’s no pull in the shoulders which makes this jacket extremely comfortable. Scott, as with many companies now, made sure they added venting. As GORE-TEX® has a tendency to not only keep you dry but also very warm, there is a need on those warmer days to open up and allow some cooler air in so you don’t bake in the winter.
Some additional features that I really like about this coat is first the zippers. Scott made these so you can easily zip up or unzip without taking your gloves off. I hate always having to remove my gloves just to unzip the coat to turn of my ipod or cool down. Scott thought about people like me that are just so lazy that we don’t like talking off our gloves. The other extra feature that I love about this coat is the removable liner. In fact probably one of its greatest features is the fact that with this jacket you get two. The removable liner isn’t just a fleece jacket that is more efficient than stylish, it does both jobs extremely well. I don’t actually ride with the liner in, but I do where the liner as my jacket while traveling to and from the hill, on my way to a business meeting, or even out on a date with my wife. The jacket feels good, has a very nice and professional cut to it, it is clean, looks good and keeps you warm enough that you don’t need much else while just running a couple of errands.
Scott really hit a home run in my book with their Striker Jacket. So if you are looking for a jacket to keep you dry and warm during those days when your hitting the 3 feet of heaven sent powder, try the Scott Striker Jacket you won’t be disappointed. However this isn’t the only GORE-TEX® Jacket Scott offers. So make sure to check out the rest of Scott’s Clothing line.
